Cyberabad Police Safety Advisory For Fog Issued For Winter Driving

  • Winter fog prompts Cyberabad Police to issue detailed road safety instructions
  • Motorists and public urged to follow new accident prevention guidelines

Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police has issued an important safety advisory for all motorists as the city faces dense fog during the winter season. Officials directed citizens to drive with maximum caution on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), highways, and main city roads where fog lowers visibility and heightens risk.

According to police, drivers must use low-beam headlights in foggy areas, avoid switching to high beams, and turn on fog lights when entering zones affected by poor visibility. Motorists should lower their speed, keep total control of their vehicle, and always maintain a safe gap from vehicles ahead to prevent sudden collisions. Officers also advised against sudden braking on slippery roads and said brake application should be slow and steady for everyone’s safety. Hazard lights, they clarified, should be used only when parked, not while driving.

The Police warned that drivers must keep their windshields clean and activate anti-fog or defogger modes to prevent mist build-up. Clear lane markings and avoidance of lane changing or overtaking in foggy conditions were stressed as lifesaving measures. Meanwhile, two-wheeler riders should wear reflective jackets and keep helmet visors clean so they remain visible. Pedestrians were urged not to wear dark clothing during fog and to cross only after checking for clear traffic.

Officers stated intense patrolling will take place in fog-prone areas. All motorists must obey safety directions, including using indicators in advance, keeping tail-lamps visible, and ensuring wipers and tyres are in proper condition. The advisory also suggested avoiding unnecessary travel, particularly in heavy fog, and using GPS navigation to stay oriented on roads.

Police stressed extra caution at junctions, curves, and flyovers, as they pose greater risk in low visibility. Heavy vehicles are required to use reflective stickers and keep all lights on, while school buses and public transports are expected to follow special fog safety guidelines. Drivers were further reminded to avoid distractions and to always keep both hands on the steering wheel, as well as to keep brake lights functional and follow all traffic advisories from authorities.

Later, the Police encouraged citizens to carry emergency kits and reminded two-wheeler riders to avoid overspeeding, especially in the early morning hours. Motorists are asked to stay updated through FM, social media, and traffic apps and strictly follow every traffic direction on the road.
