- PM Modi visit to Ayodhya includes hoisting saffron flag on Ram Temple
- Prime Minister to perform darshan and follow detailed PMO schedule
Hyderabad: PM Modi will visit Ayodhya on Tuesday to hoist a saffron flag on the spire of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The Prime Minister’s Office said the ceremony will mark the completion of the temple’s construction. It stated that the flag symbolises unity and cultural continuity. The visit will also include darshan, pooja, and several stops at nearby temples.
According to the PMO, the saffron flag is a right angled triangular banner. It measures ten feet in height and twenty feet in length. The flag bears the image of a radiant Sun along with an ‘Om’ sign. It also includes the image of the Kovidara tree. The PMO said the flag “symbolising the brilliance and valour of Lord Rama” will rise atop a shikhar built in the Nagara architectural style. Meanwhile, the surrounding 800 metre Parkota follows South Indian architectural traditions.
The PMO said the flag will send a message of dignity, unity and cultural continuity. It added that the event embodies the ideals of Ram Rajya. The statement noted that the prime minister will also visit Sapt Mandir. This site houses temples related to Maharishi Vashishtha, Maharshi Vishwamitra, Maharshi Agastya, Maharshi Valmiki, Devi Ahilya, Nishadraj Guha and Mata Shabari. The visit will then continue with a stop at Sheshavtar Mandir.
Later, PM Modi will visit Mata Annapurna Mandir. He will perform darshan and pooja at Ram Darbar Garbh Grah. This will be followed by darshan at Ram Lalla Garbha Grah, the PMO said. At noon, he will hoist the saffron flag on the temple’s shikhar. The PMO said this ceremony will “usher in a new chapter of cultural celebration and national unity.” The prime minister will also address the gathering.
The PMO noted that the programme will take place on Panchami of the Shukla Paksha in the month of Margashirsha. It added that the date coincides with the Abhijit Muhurat of Shri Ram and Maa Sita’s Vivah Panchami. The statement said this day also marks the martyrdom day of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. It recalled that the ninth Sikh Guru meditated in Ayodhya for 48 uninterrupted hours in the 17th century.
The temple complex includes 87 carved stone episodes from the Valmiki Ramayana on the outer walls. It also has 79 bronze cast episodes from Indian culture along the enclosure walls. The PMO said these elements give visitors a deep view into the life of Lord Rama and India’s cultural heritage.
