Indigo Flight Cancellations: Railways Add Extra Coaches
Indigo Flight Cancellations | Hyderabad, Dec. 6: The Indian Railways added extra coaches to major trains after more than one thousand Indigo flight cancellations caused nationwide travel issues. Officials said the move aimed to ease the pressure on passengers who faced disruptions across several cities.
The Railways announced that 116 additional coaches were attached to 37 premium trains. The arrangement will remain in place from today until December ten. The coaches include third AC, second AC, sleeper, and chair car categories. Officials said that the additions would help manage the sudden hike in demand.
In the South Central Railway zone, chair car and sleeper coaches were attached to eighteen trains. The East Railway zone added sleeper class coaches to three key trains.

The Northern Railway zone added third AC and chair car coaches to eight trains. The Western Railway zone linked third AC and second AC coaches on busy routes such as the Delhi Mumbai line. The East Central Railway zone also added second AC coaches to select trains.
Railway authorities said that four special trains would run on high demand routes. They added that these trains would support passengers who faced delays in recent days.
They said that the move would help major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Patna, and Kolkata.
Officials stated that passengers could book seats in the additional coaches through the IRCTC website or mobile app. They said that real time availability data would remain updated on the portal.
They added that ticket counters would also guide passengers who sought immediate travel options.
Authorities said that the extra capacity would stay active until the situation normalised. They said that coordination across zones helped speed up the arrangements.
They added that further steps would follow if demand increased.
