Beijing/Internet/Hyderabad, Dec 12 (Maxim News): China has achieved the feat of producing fresh drinking water and green hydrogen from seawater. It has extracted these two valuable resources using a single machine and a single process. For this, it has used waste heat released from nearby steel and petrochemical plants and seawater. Chinese media said that this is the first such facility in the world. Instead of wasting the heat emitted from factories, engineers at this plant send it to a system. This system converts seawater into fresh drinking water and clean fuel. It works as one input-three output. First, it produces drinking water. It produces 450 cubic meters of highly purified water from 800 tons of seawater per year. This water can be used in homes, laboratories and industries.
The second, it produces 1,92,000 cubic meters of green hydrogen per year. It is said to be one of the cleanest fuels on earth. This fuel can be used for everything from buses to industrial units. Third, in this process, it produces 350 tons of mineral-rich brine. Brine can be used to make various marine chemicals. Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are known for converting salt water into drinking water at the cheapest cost in the world. China produces drinking water for even less. A cubic meter of seawater costs Rs. 24. The cost of drinking water made using it is about Rs. 42. The cost of desalinated water produced in a huge factory in California is Rs. 186. The fuel produced at this plant can travel about 3,800 km per year. Up to 100 buses can be operated. (Maxim News)
