South Central Railway Announces Sankranti Special Trains

Hyderabad, Dec 17 (Maxim News) : South Central Railway has announced the operation of Sankranti special trains to ease passenger rush during the festive season.

The railway zone will run 16 additional special trains between January 9 and January 19 to manage increased travel demand during Sankranti.

According to the official statement, the Sankranti special trains will operate on high demand routes connecting Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and adjoining regions.

These services aim to provide smoother travel and reduce congestion on regular trains during peak festival days. Passengers have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and check schedules before travel.

The additional services include special trains between Srikakulam Road and Secunderabad, Secunderabad and Srikakulam Road, and Vikarabad and Srikakulam Road.

The notified train numbers include 07289, 07290, 07288, 07294, 07291, 07292, 07293 and 07295. The railway authorities confirmed that these special services will run on selected dates during the announced period.

Sankranti special trains routes and stoppages

The Sankranti special trains will halt at key stations along the route to serve passengers from multiple districts.

These include Cherlapally, Kazipet, Warangal, Khammam, Rayanapadu, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Anaparti, Samalkot, Annavaram, Tuni, Elamanchili, Duvvada, Anakapalle, Kothavalasa, Vizianagaram, Pendurthi and Cheepurupalli. Railway officials said the selected stoppages were planned to cover major travel hubs and towns with high seasonal demand.

South Central Railway stated that operating Sankranti special trains is a regular exercise to handle festival traffic. Sankranti marks one of the busiest travel periods in the region as people return to native places.

The railway zone has been monitoring passenger patterns and introduced these services based on booking trends and expected rush.

Passengers can obtain detailed schedules, timings and reservation information through official railway platforms.
