The comments came after Telangana Police confirmed that Sajid Akram, one of the suspects in the recent shooting at Bondi beach in Australia, is originally from Hyderabad. The shooting incident reportedly left 15 people dead. Following this confirmation, the issue gained political attention in the state, with calls for a deeper review of the background of the accused.

Reacting to the development, N Ramchander Rao said the involvement of a Hyderabad man in such a violent incident abroad damages the image of the country. He stated that this was not just a matter of crime but also raised wider national security concerns. Therefore, he urged the Telangana police to act with seriousness and responsibility while examining the case.

Meanwhile, the BJP leader called on the state police to inquire into the circumstances under which Sajid Akram left India. He also asked the police to look closely at the people he remained in contact with after moving to Australia. According to Rao, understanding these details is important to ensure that similar incidents do not occur in the future.

The Telangana Police had earlier said on Tuesday that Akram was originally from Hyderabad. However, officials have not shared further details about his background or the nature of his activities abroad. As a result, the matter continues to attract attention from both political circles and the public.

Later, the statement from the Telangana BJP chief added to the growing demand for clarity on the issue. The focus, according to him, should remain on safeguarding national interests and addressing any gaps in monitoring international movements. The case, therefore, remains under scrutiny as authorities examine the available information linked to the Australia shooting and the Hyderabad connection. (Maxim News)
