Hyderabad, Dec 17 (Maxim News): The alleged involvement of a Hyderabad man in a mass shooting at a beach in Australia has drawn sharp political reaction in Telangana. Telangana BJP chief N Ramchander Rao on Wednesday described the incident as an “insult” to India. He also termed it a serious security concern that needs careful examination by authorities.
The comments came after Telangana Police confirmed that Sajid Akram, one of the suspects in the recent shooting at Bondi beach in Australia, is originally from Hyderabad. The shooting incident reportedly left 15 people dead. Following this confirmation, the issue gained political attention in the state, with calls for a deeper review of the background of the accused.
Reacting to the development, N Ramchander Rao said the involvement of a Hyderabad man in such a violent incident abroad damages the image of the country. Meanwhile, the BJP leader called on the state police to inquire into the circumstances under which Sajid Akram left India. The Telangana Police had earlier said on Tuesday that Akram was originally from Hyderabad.
