- MANUU Inter Hostel competitions promote fitness and creativity
Hyderabad: MANUU Inter Hostel Sports, Cultural and Literary Competitions 2026 began at the Maulana Azad National Urdu University campus with the aim of promoting physical fitness, cultural harmony, creativity, and literary excellence among hostel students. The competitions are being organised separately for boys and girls under the supervision of the Provost of Boys Hostels and Girls Hostels.
The inaugural ceremony opened with a 400 metre running race on the university campus. Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor of MANUU, flagged off the race in the presence of Prof. Siddiqui Mohd Mahmood, Dean of Students Welfare, and other senior university officials. The event marked the formal start of the MANUU Inter Hostel competitions for the year 2026.
In the girls 400 metres race, Ayesha Naaz secured first place. Iqra Khatoon finished second, while Falak Noor stood third. A total of 12 girl students participated in the race. The participants showed strong enthusiasm, discipline, and sportsmanship during the competition. Their performance set an energetic tone for the events that will follow in the coming weeks.
While addressing the gathering, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan stressed the importance of co curricular activities in the overall development of students. He made special reference to the Academic Bank of Credits and its relevance to student growth. He also encouraged all participants to maintain sportsmanship and unity throughout the MANUU Inter Hostel competitions.
Meanwhile, university officials shared that the competitions will continue over the next few weeks. The schedule includes several sporting events along with cultural and literary activities. These activities include Volleyball, Kabaddi, Kho Kho, debates, poetry, essay writing, mehandi designing, and other creative contests. The wide range of events aims to give students opportunities beyond academics.
Dr. Sameena Basu, Provost of Girls Hostels, delivered the welcome address at the inaugural function. Later, Prof. Md. Shahid Raza, Provost of Boys Hostels, presented the vote of thanks. Faculty members, hostel wardens, hostel secretaries, and a large number of students attended the event. The strong turnout reflected the importance of the MANUU Inter Hostel competitions within the campus community.
