Sangareddy Police bust interstate vehicle theft gang in major crackdown
Following this, special teams led by CCS Inspector Shivakumar and Circle Inspector Srinivas Reddy analyzed CCTV footage and technical data. As a result, police detained two suspects on May 3 at Panchagamma Kaman during vehicle checks.
The suspects were identified as Mohammed Khursheed Ahmed and Mohammed Jaffer Ali, both drivers from Hyderabad. During questioning, police seized a pistol, ammunition, and other weapons from them.
Further investigation revealed that the duo operated as part of a larger gang. The group carried out vehicle thefts across Sangareddy, Kamareddy, and Nizamabad districts. In addition, they committed crimes in Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Police said the gang followed a clear strategy. They stole vehicles in one state and sold them in another to avoid detection. This method helped them mislead law enforcement agencies. So far, police arrested six accused, including Khursheed Ahmed, Jaffer Ali, Syed Sayeed, Sheikh Nizam, Mohammed Saleem, and Mohammed Irshad Ahmed.
Meanwhile, seven others remain absconding, and search operations continue.
Investigators confirmed the gang’s involvement in 11 theft cases. These include five cases in Telangana, one in Karnataka, and five in Maharashtra. Officials also noted prior criminal records against key accused.

The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody. The SP appreciated the efforts of the CCS Sangareddy team and Narayankhed police for solving the case swiftly.
