Hyderabad Flyovers Closed During Shab-e-Meraj Night

Hyderabad: Hyderabad flyovers closed during Shab-e-Meraj night as part of a traffic advisory issued by the city police to regulate movement and ensure road safety. The closures will be enforced on the intervening night of January 16 and 17, 2026, after 10 pm, according to officials.

The advisory stated that all flyovers in Hyderabad city, including Necklace Road, will remain closed during the night hours. However, Greenland’s Flyover, PVNR Expressway, and Langar House flyovers will remain open to traffic. The decision aims to manage traffic flow and reduce risks during Shab e Meraj Jagne Ki Raat.

Meanwhile, police officials said that some flyovers will close based on the situation. Telangana Talli Flyover, Shaikpet Flyover, Manmohan Singh Flyover, and Bahadurpura X Road Flyover will be shut on a need basis. Authorities will assess traffic conditions and take steps accordingly.

Therefore, commuters have been advised to plan their travel in advance. The Hyderabad Traffic Police urged people to follow updates on their official social media platforms. These include the Hyderabad Traffic Police Facebook page at facebook.com/HYDTP and the X handle @HYDP. Officials said timely updates would help commuters avoid inconvenience.

In addition, the advisory requested citizens to cooperate with traffic personnel on duty. Police stressed that the closures are temporary and aimed at public safety. Moreover, motorists should take alternate routes to reach their destinations during the restricted hours. Traffic police teams will remain deployed at key junctions to guide vehicles.

Later, officials also shared emergency contact details for commuters. In case of urgent travel needs, people can call the traffic helpline number 9010203626 for assistance. Police teams will respond and help guide vehicles through permitted routes.

Joint Commissioner of Police, Traffic, Hyderabad, D. Joel Davis, IPS, issued the advisory. He requested all print, electronic, and FM media outlets to give wide publicity to the traffic restrictions. The appeal aimed to ensure maximum public awareness in the interest of safety.

Meanwhile, police clarified that the advisory applies only for the Shab e Meraj night. Normal traffic movement will resume once restrictions are lifted. Authorities once again urged citizens to remain patient and cooperative. They said public support is key to maintaining smooth traffic flow and ensuring safety across Hyderabad during religious observances.
