Municipal Elections: Congress gears up with review meetings

Municipal Elections | Hyderabad, Jan. 23: Municipal elections preparations have begun across Telangana, with the Congress party planning constituency level reviews to build on recent electoral momentum.

Party leaders aim to secure a majority of municipalities, encouraged by the Jubilee Hills bypoll result and recent local body wins.

Senior leaders and screening committee members will assess ground level conditions in the coming days. According to party sources, review meetings are scheduled on January 24 in Ramagundam and Bhupalpally. Reviews in Illendu and Nakirekal are planned for January 25 or 26.

These meetings will be held parliamentary constituency wise. They will focus on party performance, local political conditions, winning strategies, and the selection of strong candidates.

Leaders said coordinated planning is key for Congress municipal elections success.

Municipal Elections: Party seeks unity amid early friction

During the first round of reviews, the party faced an unexpected situation in the Nizamabad parliamentary segment.

Former minister T Jeevan Reddy objected to the presence of Jagityal MLA Sanjay at the meeting. Sanjay is a BRS legislator.

Jeevan Reddy questioned how a BRS MLA attended a Congress review meeting. He later walked out midway, triggering political discussion. Party leaders have since become alert ahead of upcoming reviews.

Congress leaders said efforts are underway to resolve internal differences. They stressed that unity and coordination among leaders are essential for better results in Congress municipal elections.

The party plans to manage disagreements through dialogue and consensus.
