Republic Day celebrations at the Telangana BJP state office turned into a strong political statement, as state BJP president Ramachandra Rao sharply criticised the Congress party. He accused the Congress of looting the country for 60 years and opposing schemes meant to benefit the poor. He made these remarks after hoisting the national flag and extending Republic Day greetings to the people of Telangana.

Ramachandra Rao said many people tried to change the Constitution over the years. He criticised Jawaharlal Nehru and said Nehru was the first to insult the Constitution. He also alleged that Dr B R Ambedkar faced insult and said the history of defeating Ambedkar belonged to the Congress. He further criticised former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and accused her of violating the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

Continuing his attack, the Telangana BJP chief said Rahul Gandhi was following the footsteps of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. He raised questions about voting rights and asked how only Indians should have the right to vote and how people from other countries could be given voting rights. He also accused the Congress of spreading false propaganda on the CIR. Meanwhile, he alleged that a scam involving crores of rupees took place in the rural employment scheme.

Ramachandra Rao said Prime Minister Modi’s goal was to do good for the poor. Therefore, he defended the Centre’s welfare schemes and linked them to constitutional values. He said the Congress government failed to honour Ambedkar by not giving him the Bharat Ratna. He added that the Modi government respected Ambedkar and upheld the Constitution.

He also targeted the Congress and the BRS over farmer welfare. He said both parties had not done anything for farmers. In contrast, he said Modi was helping farmers through the Prime Minister Kisan Yojana. He further alleged that there were criminal cases against Revanth Reddy. He also said the Congress was working with the Majlis and described the Congress and BRS as two corrupt parties.

Ramachandra Rao called on people to throw out the Congress and BRS and support the BJP. Many BJP leaders, including MP Laxman, participated in the Republic Day celebrations at the party office.
