KTR: Congress And BJP Competing To Undermine Constitution

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan during the Republic Day celebrations, Rama Rao said the “Nyaya Patram” (Justice Document) released by Rahul Gandhi at the Tukkuguda meeting ahead of the 2023 Assembly elections had turned into a document of injustice. BRS MLAs who defected to the Congress were now sharing the dais with Rahul Gandhi, who once promised strict implementation of anti-defection laws. Constitutional norms were being systematically undermined in Telangana under Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, he said, adding that the Chief Minister was to be blamed for the eroding law and order situation and democratic values in the State.

“Every section of society, including SCs, STs, BCs, farmers, students, women and the elderly, are facing injustice under Congress rule,” he pointed out.

Referring to the alleged custodial death of Karra Rajesh in Kodad, the BRS working president charged Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy with maintaining silence over the incident, which exposed deep injustice. He recalled that even journalists were being treated like terrorists and arrested.

The BRS leader also accused both the BJP-led Union government and the Congress-led State government of acting in the same manner against constitutional principles. He questioned why the Centre failed to act against the Congress government in the State despite the Supreme Court-appointed empowered committee reporting several violations by the State government.

Citing Dr BR Ambedkar’s warning that even a strong Constitution depends on those who implement it, he said the situation at both the Centre and the State reflected that concern. He recalled that Telangana had achieved Statehood by following Ambedkar’s ideology of “Educate, Organise and Agitate”, as well as Article 3 of the Constitution. He also appreciated students of the Hyderabad Central University for staging a special play highlighting growing constitutional violations in the country. (Maxim News)
