Municipal Elections | Hyderabad, Jan. 28: The State Election Commission released the Municipal Elections Schedule for Telangana, covering 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations across the state.
According to the Municipal Elections Schedule, nomination filing begins today. Polling will be held in a single phase on February 11, while counting and results are scheduled for February 13.
Following the notification, the model code of conduct came into force across Telangana. As a result, political parties have stepped up preparations for the municipal polls.
Reacting to the Elections Schedule, BJP state president N Ramchandra Rao outlined the party’s strategy while speaking to the media.
Municipal Elections Schedule triggers party preparations
Ramchandra Rao said the BJP aims to win in 60 percent of the municipalities. Rao stated that the party is targeting at least five municipal corporations and around 70 municipalities.
State BJP Chief said the party has already demonstrated its strength in parliamentary and gram panchayat elections.
Rao added that the party has been preparing for the municipal polls for some time. According to him, detailed reports from all regions will be received by this evening.
Ramchandra Rao said the party will hold a committee meeting soon after and announce candidates.
Rao also alleged that the Congress and BRS depend mainly on Muslim vote banks. He claimed that the BJP would emerge as the principal opposition force in the state following the elections.
