No Funds For Telangana Projects: KTR

  • Union Budget denies Telangana funds, alleges KTR
  • Key Telangana projects ignored in Union Budget, says BRS

Hyderabad: BRS Working President KT Rama Rao on Sunday alleged that the Union Budget once again failed Telangana. He said the Centre did not provide funds for key projects linked to the state’s growth. He launched a sharp attack on the Union Government and claimed that Telangana was denied its rightful share in the latest Union Budget.

Rama Rao accused the BJP led Centre of following a discriminatory approach towards Telangana for over a decade. He also questioned the Congress led State Government for failing to secure even small allocations. He said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made nearly 60 visits to New Delhi. However, those visits brought “not a single rupee” to Telangana. He demanded that the Chief Minister explain what clear benefits the state gained from these trips. Meanwhile, he said people deserved answers on the outcome of repeated meetings with the Centre.

KTR also criticised the much publicised “big brother–little brother” understanding between Congress and the BJP. He said this understanding failed to bring financial gains for Telangana. He pointed to the current Budget as proof. He further alleged that the Chief Minister’s Delhi visits were driven by political needs and not by the interests of the state. Therefore, he described these engagements as a “total futility.” He said Telangana remained empty handed while other states continued to get large allocations.

The BRS leader then targeted the BJP leadership. He said even BJP MPs and Union Ministers from Telangana failed to raise the state’s issues in Parliament. He noted that despite having representation in the Union Cabinet, Telangana did not receive meaningful allocations. According to him, this reflected continued neglect by the Centre since the state’s formation. Also, he said silence from leaders elected from the state added to public disappointment.

Rama Rao recalled several long pending projects that did not find place in the Budget. These include national status for the Palamuru Ranga Reddy irrigation project, Metro Rail expansion, the Regional Ring Road, new railway lines, a coach factory at Warangal, IIT and IIM institutions, the Bayyaram steel plant, and a mega textile park in Sircilla. He said these omissions showed that Telangana was systematically overlooked. He added that even commitments under the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act remained unaddressed.

Later, KTR demanded that Congress and BJP MPs, Union Ministers, and the State Government answer the people. He said neighbouring states continued to receive central assistance every year. Meanwhile, Telangana continued to face what he called serious injustice. He urged leaders across parties to respond collectively to public concerns. (Maxim News)
