Osmania University Hosts National Conference On Centre State Relations
Hyderabad, Feb. 9 (Maxim News) : Osmania University on February 9 commenced a three day national conference focused on Centre State relations in contemporary India.
The Department of Political Science organized the event in collaboration with the Osmania University Centre for International Studies.
The conference is titled “Re Imagining Centre State Relations in Contemporary India Delimitation Fiscal Federalism One Nation One Election and Digital Governance.”
The inaugural session took place at the OUCIS auditorium. It brought together academicians, policy experts and constitutional scholars from across the country.
Prof Balakista Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana Graduate Council of Higher Education attended as the Chief Guest. He stressed the need to update legal and administrative systems.
He said governance today faces new complexities. He also noted that delimitation and fiscal federalism are crucial for fair regional development.

Sr Prof Kumar Molugaram, Vice Chancellor of Osmania University presided over the session. He praised the Department of Political Science for selecting nationally relevant themes. He said universities must act as key spaces for democratic and constitutional debate.
Prof Retd M Kodandaram served as Guest of Honour. He shared insights on linking academic thought with grassroots democratic action. He drew from his experience in the Telangana Statehood movement. His address highlighted the role of scholars in public life.
The keynote address came from Prof Afroz Alam, Head of the Department of Politics at MANUU.
He spoke on electoral politics. He focused on the impact of the One Nation One Election proposal on India’s federal structure. His talk examined how electoral reforms may reshape Centre State relations.
Conference Director Prof M Krishna Kumar and Organizing Secretary Dr Chalamalla Venkateshwarlu explained the objectives of the conference.
They said discussions over the next three days will cover digital governance and the social and political effects of future delimitation exercises.
The conference offers a platform for research scholars and students to engage with policy driven research.
After the inaugural session the event moved into panel discussions. Experts from different regions are participating in these sessions.
The deliberations will continue until February 11 2026. The conference will conclude with recommendations aimed at strengthening cooperative federalism in India. (Maxim News)
