- Harish Rao slams Congress government over Gurukul schools and Osmania University student protests
- BRS leader targets CM Revanth Reddy over food quality and education issues
Hyderabad: BRS Legislature Party deputy leader T Harish Rao criticised the Congress government over student protests in Gurukul schools and at Osmania University. He alleged neglect in ensuring basic facilities, including quality food, for students. Therefore, he demanded that the government immediately intervene to ensure quality food in Gurukul schools and resolve the issues raised.
Referring to protests by students of an ST residential welfare School in Narayankhed mandal of Sangareddy district, Harish Rao said students were forced to take to the streets demanding adulteration free food. He also cited ongoing protests by students at Osmania University, who complained about poor quality meals. “Such incidents are occurring across the State, but the Chief Minister, who also holds the Education portfolio, has neither reviewed the situation nor responded,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, the BRSLP deputy leader termed it shameful that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy makes frequent trips on helicopter and has no time to address the conditions in Gurukul schools. He said that except for taking credits for the initiatives of the previous BRS regime, the Chief Minister made no visible development in the last two and a half years. He alleged that the focus remained on publicity rather than solving ground level issues.
Harish Rao also questioned the government’s priorities. He accused it of focusing on publicity driven initiatives like ‘Young India Schools’ while failing to ensure basic amenities such as hygienic food in existing residential institutions. He further criticised Revanth Reddy’s engagement with the Centre. He stated that repeated visits to Delhi had not yielded tangible benefits for education in Telangana.
The criticism comes amid continuing student protests in Gurukul schools and Osmania University. Harish Rao’s remarks highlight concerns over food quality and facilities in residential institutions. The Congress government, however, has not responded to these specific allegations in the statement provided.
