Police Action Against ‘Shirtless’ Protest At AI Impact Summit: Youth Congress President Arrested
Delhi/Hyderabad, Feb 24 (Maxim News): Delhi Police has arrested Youth Congress (IYC) national president Uday Bhanu Chib in connection with the ‘shirtless’ protest by Youth Congress (IYC) activists during the recent AI Impact Summit 2026 at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. It is known that the protest took place at the summit’s exhibition hall on Thursday (February 20).
Five Youth Congress activists protested by removing their shirts, raising anti-government slogans and holding T-shirts with messages against the India-US trade deal. They levelled allegations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Security personnel immediately took them out. Police arrested seven activists after the incident.
Uday Bhanu arrested
Delhi Police arrested Uday Bhanu on Tuesday (February 24). He was reportedly arrested after being questioned for over 15 hours at Tilak Marg police station. With this, the total number of arrests in the case has reached eight. The police have accused him of being involved in the conspiracy, not cooperating with the investigation, and trying to mislead. He will be produced in court soon.
Congress response
Senior leaders like Bhupesh Baghel have strongly condemned the arrest. “In a democracy, youth raising questions and protesting is not a crime – it is a weapon of democracy,” Baghel said. The arrests have been termed as ‘anarchic’ and ‘unjust’ acts. Congress sources have claimed that the protest was peaceful and aimed at expressing the grievances of the youth. (Maxim News)
