- Anil Ambani questioned by ED in FEMA violations case
- Money laundering probe links foreign assets and Pandora Papers
Hyderabad: Anil Ambani appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai on February 26 in connection with a money laundering case. The Reliance ADAG Group Chairman reached the ED office for questioning in a case related to alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act.
The ED is investigating suspected FEMA violations. Officials suspect that Anil Ambani diverted funds abroad in violation of FEMA provisions. Earlier, authorities issued notices to him seeking an explanation. Therefore, his appearance before the ED marks a key step in the ongoing probe.
Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department and other agencies have raised concerns over foreign assets. They allege that Anil Ambani holds illegal assets abroad and did not disclose details to Indian authorities. However, officials are still examining the records to verify these claims.
ED Examines Foreign Assets and Pandora Papers Link
The case also draws attention due to the Pandora Papers leak. Anil Ambani’s name was mentioned in the previously sensational Pandora Papers. He was accused of having shell companies in countries such as the British Virgin Islands. However, no official response has yet been issued by him regarding these allegations.
During the questioning, Anil Ambani answered queries from ED officials. The agency is examining documents related to various bank accounts, foreign investments, and company transactions linked to him. Earlier, the ED had also recorded his statement in the case registered against Yes Bank promoter Rana Kapoor.
This latest development adds to the challenges faced by Anil Ambani, who is dealing with a series of financial difficulties. However, neither Anil Ambani nor his representatives have issued any official response to the present allegations so far.
