Telangana Launches Statewide HPV Vaccination Drive To Prevent Cervical Cancer
Hyderabad, Feb. 28 (Maxim News): The Telangana government has taken a major step to prevent cervical cancer among women. On Saturday, the state officially launched a special HPV vaccination drive in Hyderabad.
Health Minister Damodar Rajanarsimha inaugurated the program at King Koti District Hospital. Speaking at the event, he said the campaign started today and will continue across the state for the next three months.
He stressed that the HPV vaccine plays a crucial role in protecting women from cervical cancer. Therefore, the government aims to make the vaccine widely accessible.
For the first month, the vaccine will be available at all government general hospitals, area hospitals, and Community Health Centres (CHCs). After that, authorities will expand the program to all Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across Telangana.
Officials urged eligible girls and women to visit their nearest government hospital and get vaccinated. Meanwhile, medical experts welcomed the decision. They said early vaccination can significantly reduce the risk of cervical cancer.
With this initiative, the Telangana government hopes to strengthen women’s health and reduce cancer-related deaths in the state. (Maxim News)
