Hyderabad, August 13: Hyderabad DCC President Syed Khalid Saifullah has urged the Telangana Housing Board to extend the Indiramma Indlu LIG application deadline.
He sought an extension of 10 to 15 days beyond the existing August 15 deadline.
Saifullah also requested the Housing Board to add a separate “Divorced” category to the application form.
He made the requests in a representation to Housing Board Vice Chairman and Housing Commissioner V P Gautham on Thursday.
DCC Chief Seeks Support For Divorced Women
Saifullah said around 46,000 applications had been received for 7,680 flats under the scheme.
He said the relatively low response suggested that many eligible families were still unaware of the scheme.
Several people have reportedly approached Congress offices seeking information and assistance with applications.
Saifullah urged the Housing Board to extend the deadline and increase publicity across the 16 Assembly constituencies.
He also highlighted difficulties faced by divorced women during the application process.
According to him, the form does not provide a “Divorced” option under marital status.
It also requires applicants to provide their former husband’s Aadhaar details, he said.
Saifullah urged the Housing Board to remove this requirement for divorced applicants.
He said the changes would help prevent eligible families from being excluded because of limited awareness or application requirements.
