Residents became emotional during the interaction. Some wept in front of K T Rama Rao and urged him to protect their dwellings from the project. They said they built their houses by taking loans and have been paying EMIs for several years. They added that they are paying property taxes promptly and living here for the past 15 years.

However, they alleged that the Congress government has decided to demolish their dream houses in the name of the Gandhi Sarovar project. They said they do not want this project and their houses should remain with them. Therefore, they sought political support to safeguard their properties.
