Gulf War Tensions: Ponnam Prabhakar Seeks Centre’s Support for Telangana NRIs

Hyderabad, March 1 (Maxim News): Amid the ongoing tensions and war-like situation in the Gulf countries, Telangana State Minister Ponnam Prabhakar has made a key appeal to the Central Government.

Speaking to the media on Sunday, he urged the Centre to ensure that people from the state do not face any difficulties due to the conflict.

A large number of people from Telangana are currently residing in Gulf nations. In the backdrop of attacks involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, Ponnam Prabhakar appealed for the safety and well-being of all Indians, particularly Telugus living in the region.

Ponnam Prabhakar advised that any issues faced by Telangana residents abroad should be immediately brought to the notice of the Telangana NRI Advisory Committee and the government. Minister Ponnam also assured that, with coordination between the Central and State governments, necessary steps would be taken to bring back residents safely to India if the situation worsens.

AP Speaker Reviews Safety of Telugus in Gulf

Meanwhile, Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu, Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, enquired about the safety of Telugu people living in Gulf countries.

It is estimated that around 50,000 people from Andhra Pradesh are working in Bahrain, many of them from the Narsipatnam region. The Speaker personally spoke over the phone with NRI representative Shetty Satish to gather information about the welfare of Telugus there.

Patrudu advised Telugu residents in Bahrain to remain alert, strictly follow local government guidelines, and stay in safe areas. He further assured that in case of any emergency, assistance would be provided through Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRT), and that the state government stands ready to extend full support.
