Give Way To Pedestrians Rains On Road, Supreme Court Orders The Central Government

Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 3 (Maxim News): The Supreme Court has made key comments on the lack of proper paths for pedestrians to walk on roads, which is causing accidents. It has ordered the central government to create an encroachment-free space for pedestrians wherever there are roads. It has stated that the path for pedestrians should be separate from the path for motor vehicles. It has suggested that in places where it is not possible to create a separate path, at least a rope should be tied between the roads and the area where people walk.

The Supreme Court said that pedestrians should be assured that the empty space next to the roads is for them and that they can walk freely without being disturbed by vehicles. It gave two weeks’ time for this. It then ordered a report to be submitted on the arrangements made for pedestrians. The matter was adjourned for two weeks for further hearing. It said that walking on footpaths is also part of the fundamental rights of the people. (Maxim News)
