Investigation reveals that Abdurabu entered India on a student visa in 2009 but discontinued his studies multiple times at various universities. He eventually turned to drug trafficking to fund a lavish lifestyle after becoming a regular consumer. He reportedly procured MDMA and cocaine from an absconding Nigerian supplier via WhatsApp and online payments. The duo used dead-drop methods and private travel buses to distribute narcotics to consumers in Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Hasan Hashem met Abdurabu while serving time in a Bengaluru jail for a previous narcotics case in 2022. Following his release, Hasan allegedly began assisting Abdurabu by collecting drug shipments and providing his bank accounts for illicit transactions. The police registered a case under the NDPS Act and the Foreigners Act as Abdurabu’s passport and visa had expired years ago.
