- Mahesh Kumar Goud Delhi tour cancelled
- AICC to discuss Rajya Sabha candidates over phone
Hyderabad, March 4 (Maxim News): Suspense continues over the selection of Rajya Sabha candidates in Telangana.
The visit of TPCC chief Mahesh Kumar Goud to Delhi for discussions with the high command has been postponed. As a result, clarity on the second Rajya Sabha seat is still awaited.
Mahesh Kumar Goud was scheduled to leave for Delhi this afternoon to hold talks with the party leadership regarding the two Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana.
However, his Delhi tour was cancelled as AICC president Mallikarjuna Kharge and AICC general secretary K C Venugopal were not available in the national capital.
High Command to Hold Phone Discussions
Meanwhile, the party high command has decided to conduct discussions over the phone.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, AICC in charge Meenakshi Natarajan and TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud will take part in the telephonic talks this afternoon.
Therefore, the final decision on the candidates may emerge after these consultations.
One of the two Rajya Sabha seats is said to be almost finalised. However, there is intense suspense over who will secure the remaining seat.
According to party sources, Abhishek Singhvi is likely to get another opportunity under the high command quota.
Race for Second Rajya Sabha Seat
With one seat reportedly decided, more than half a dozen aspirants are in the race for the other position. Senior leaders are lobbying strongly for the opportunity.
They are reportedly urging the high command to recognise their long service to the party and consider them for the nomination.
Some leaders have conveyed that they have worked for the party throughout their lives and requested that this chance be given to them. Meanwhile, others are highlighting their contributions and seeking support from party seniors.
As the deadline for filing nominations ends tomorrow, the suspense has intensified.
The question now remains who is in the mind of the high command and who will emerge as the lucky candidate from the state. With limited time left, party circles are keenly watching the developments. (Maxim News)
