Hyderabad: Dr Venkatesh Devanur, a city based agri biotech entrepreneur and scientist, was elected President of the World Neem Organisation. The election took place during the recently concluded 3rd International Neem Summit 2026 and the 4th Global Neem Trade Fair held in Pune.

The World Neem Organisation organised the summit and trade fair to bring together experts and stakeholders working with neem. The international non profit organisation promotes the neem tree and its benefits for agriculture, health, environment, and industry. It also serves as a global forum where researchers and professionals share knowledge and resources related to neem.

The organisation also works to promote neem cultivation and plantation across the world. In addition, it encourages research on neem’s medicinal and agricultural value. It supports production and commercialisation of neem based products. The body also spreads awareness about neem’s role in sustainable agriculture, health, and environmental protection.

Dr Venkatesh Devanur has long been active in agriculture organisations. He is a founding member and secretary of the BioAgri Inputs Producers Association. Earlier, he served as Vice President of the World Neem Organisation. Later, he was elected President of the organisation.

Dr Venkatesh is also a Director in a joint venture with Koppert Biological Systems of the Netherlands. Over the years, he has worked in India’s bio pesticide and organic agriculture industry. His companies focus on developing eco friendly crop protection and soil health products.

Meanwhile, several notable guests attended the summit. Justice K. K. Tated, Chairman of the Animal Rights Commission of the Government of Maharashtra, and Dr B. N. Vyas, President, were among those present. Researchers, industry representatives, farmers, and neem enthusiasts from India and abroad also took part in the event.

During the conference, organisers released a White Paper on the Status of the Neem Industry. They also released a documentary on the importance of collecting and processing neem seeds and fruits. The film aims to help neem seed and fruit suppliers understand the value of proper collection and value addition in the supply chain.

More than 150 participants from India and overseas attended the summit. Eminent scientists and experts presented scientific papers during the event. These presentations highlighted the importance of neem in agriculture, human health, cancer control, and other important areas. The discussions also opened doors for collaboration between academia and industry.
