- Home, Education, Urban Development receive major boost
The Telangana government presented the Telangana Budget 2026 in the Assembly, outlining allocations across key sectors. Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu detailed the provisions, with a focus on growth, security, and infrastructure. The total outlay stands at Rs 3.24 lakh crore.
The budget shows strong emphasis on core departments. The Finance sector received Rs 60,438 crore. Meanwhile, the General Administration was allocated Rs 1,190 crore. These allocations indicate the government’s effort to maintain administrative efficiency and fiscal management.
The Education sector also received notable funding. Existing Education secured Rs 5,443 crore. In addition, Higher Education was allocated Rs 21,231 crore. The government aims to strengthen academic infrastructure and improve access to education. However, the figures also reflect a continued focus on long-term development.
The Home Department received Rs 11,907 crore for law and order. This allocation underlines the importance of maintaining security across the state. Similarly, the Industries and Commerce sector got Rs 3,747 crore, which may support economic activity and industrial growth.
Urban Development emerged as a key focus area. The government allocated Rs 17,907 crore to this sector. These funds are expected to support city expansion and infrastructure projects. Meanwhile, the Planning Department received Rs 7,971 crore, and the Revenue Department secured Rs 4,020 crore, indicating balanced attention to governance and administration.
The Transport Department was allocated Rs 4,491 crore. This allocation may help improve connectivity and public transport systems. Therefore, the overall budget reflects a mix of development priorities and essential services.
The government appears to prioritize security, growth, and infrastructure through these allocations. For instance, the Home Department funding supports statewide peace maintenance. Similarly, Urban Development funds target city expansion projects.
Previously, Telangana budgets focused on fiscal discipline amid debt challenges. However, this budget continues that approach while expanding investments across sectors. Assembly discussions on these allocations are ongoing.
