- Trump praises Modi, US Embassy highlights strong ties
- India US relations discussed amid West Asia tensions
Hyderabad, March 27: The United States Embassy in India on Friday highlighted remarks by Donald Trump praising Narendra Modi as a leader who “gets things done.” The statement also expressed confidence that ties between the two countries will grow stronger in the coming years.
The embassy shared the remarks through a social media post. The message drew attention due to its timing, as tensions continue in West Asia. In the post, Trump said: “Our amazing relationship with India will be even stronger going forward. Prime Minister Modi and I are two people that get things done, something that cannot be said for most.”
Meanwhile, the remarks followed a phone conversation between the two leaders earlier on Tuesday. During the call, the Iran conflict was a key topic. After the conversation, Modi shared India’s position on the issue and stressed the need for peace and stability in the region.
Modi posted on X: “Received a call from President Trump and had a useful exchange of views on the situation in West Asia. India supports de-escalation and restoration of peace at the earliest. Ensuring that the Strait of Hormuz remains open, secure and accessible is essential for the whole world. We agreed to stay in touch regarding efforts towards peace and stability.”
Both leaders highlighted the importance of maintaining peace in West Asia. Modi underlined the strategic value of the Strait of Hormuz for global trade. Therefore, both sides agreed to continue close communication on efforts to ensure regional security and the safety of shipping routes.
The discussion comes amid rising tensions in the region following February 28 strikes by the US and Israel on Iran. The strikes reportedly resulted in the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Iran launched drone and missile attacks targeting US and Israeli facilities, along with allied locations.
The conflict has affected global markets. Energy prices remain sensitive to developments in the region. Meanwhile, Trump and Modi have maintained a visible political partnership over the years. Their engagement includes major public events, strategic talks, and mutual praise.
Their cooperation spans areas such as trade, defence, and broader strategic ties. Therefore, the latest exchange reflects an ongoing effort to strengthen bilateral relations amid global challenges.
