Most of the key leaders of the Maoist party have been surrendering to the Telangana police. However, Narayana Rao from Srikakulam district recently came into contact with the AP police. After negotiations, he surrendered before the DGP along with his team on Monday. The presence of the AP Maoists, who had acted as a major force for the Maoist party since 1980, has become null and void.

It is known that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had earlier announced that the country would be made Maoist-free by March 31 this year. Since last year, security forces have been firing on Maoists in Maoist-affected areas with operations like Operation Kagar. Many Maoists have already surrendered. The surrender of Narayana Rao, a member of the AP-Odisha Border (AOB) State Committee, a few hours before the deadline, has gained significance.
