Hyderabad, March 30: A case of alleged cheating on the pretext of marriage has surfaced in Medipally on the outskirts of the city. Police registered a case after a 29-year-old woman complained that a man promised to marry her and later refused.

According to police, the woman is a resident of Kachavani Singaram in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. She came into contact with the accused, identified as Raja Ravindra from Siddipet district, through a friend-based mobile application. Over time, both began interacting regularly.

Meanwhile, the accused reportedly gained her trust by expressing love. He also assured her that he would marry her. Believing these assurances, the woman met him in private on several occasions. During this period, they developed a physical relationship.

However, the situation later changed. The accused allegedly refused to go ahead with the marriage. As a result, the woman realized that she had been deceived. She then approached the Medipally police and filed a complaint on Sunday.

Based on her statement, police registered a case. Further investigation is currently underway. Officials have not disclosed additional details yet. Meanwhile, the case highlights concerns around misuse of personal relationships formed through mobile applications.
