- Iran peace talks hinge on guarantees, says President
- West Asia war conditions raise global diplomatic concerns
Hyderabad, April 1: The ongoing West Asia conflict may be nearing a turning point, as Iran has signaled readiness to end the war under specific conditions. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Iran is open to ending the conflict involving Israel and the United States. However, he stressed that strong guarantees are necessary to prevent future attacks.
The statement came after a phone conversation between Pezeshkian and Antonio Costa. According to the Iranian presidential office, the discussion focused on ways to end the ongoing war. Pezeshkian said that Iran would agree to stop hostilities if assurances are given that such attacks will not happen again. This marks a significant moment in the evolving Iran peace talks.
Meanwhile, Antonio Costa expressed concern over the current situation in West Asia. He urged Iran to halt its attacks on Gulf countries. He also emphasized the need for diplomatic solutions to resolve the crisis. Furthermore, he called for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz at the earliest, highlighting its importance for global trade and stability.
However, Iran has clarified its stance on direct negotiations with the United States. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that there are no official talks currently taking place with the US. He also noted that Iran has not responded to any proposals made by Washington so far.
The conflict, which has lasted for over a month, has drawn global attention. While the United States has shown interest in peace talks, Iran’s demand for guarantees remains a key condition. Therefore, the path to peace depends largely on whether these assurances can be agreed upon by all parties involved.
