The Dean Students Welfare of MANUU is organizing the event on April 01 and 02. Various universities and educational institutions from across the country are taking part in the competition. The event aims to promote cultural exchange and provide a platform for students to showcase their talent in qawwali.

Speaking at the event, Prof. Anuradha Tadakamalla highlighted the growing importance of arts in universities. She said that arts were once seen as a low priority. However, over the past two decades, fine arts have gained importance in the university system. She also noted that the University of Hyderabad was the first in South India to establish a School of Fine Arts and Communication 35 years ago.

She spoke about the history of qawwali in India. She said qawwali came to India around the 13th century and later flourished with strong patronage. According to her, qawwali received support during the Bahmani and Asaf Jahi periods. She also mentioned that the Warsi Brothers and Pandit Venkat Rao introduced new dimensions to this art form. Meanwhile, she added that cinema helped qawwali reach a wider audience, although it also drew criticism for affecting its core traditions.

In his presidential remarks, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan said the event offers a good opportunity for universities to exchange knowledge. He stated that MANUU has developed several clubs, including music, literary, dance, fine arts, and film clubs, over the past three years. He emphasized the importance of respect and harmony, saying the university strives to create such an environment.
