- Dhurandhar director cut rumours grow over April 5 release
- Ranveer Singh film Dhurandhar extended version sparks buzz
Mumbai, April 5: Rumours around filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s ambitious 7.5 hour director’s cut of “Dhurandhar” have triggered strong online curiosity. Reports suggest the extended version may see a limited theatrical release on April 5. However, there is no official confirmation yet.
As per reports, the extended version combines the duology “Dhurandhar” and “Dhurandhar: The Revenge.” The speculation gained traction after a CBFC certificate dated March 31, 2026 surfaced. Meanwhile, when media contacted the makers, they were unavailable for comment. Therefore, clarity on the release remains uncertain. A source close to media also indicated that the reports could be an April Fool’s joke.
The film features a large ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh. It also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Rakesh Bedi, Gaurav Gera and Danish Pandor. Backed by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film is expected to be showcased in premium formats like IMAX and Dolby Cinema. Reports also say select theatres may host two shows per weekend.
Originally, the project was envisioned as a single film. Later, it was split into two parts due to its length. Now, the director’s cut reportedly stitches both parts into a single narrative spanning 450 minutes. This version is said to offer a more immersive viewing experience. It may also include three intervals, English subtitles and improved sound clarity.
Meanwhile, “Dhurandhar: The Revenge” has performed strongly at the box office. As of March 30, the film collected Rs 1,365 crore worldwide since its release on March 19. According to a post by Jio Studios on X, the film earned Rs 867 crore in India NBOC. It maintained momentum beyond its opening week, adding Rs 53 crore on Day 8, Rs 42 crore on Day 9, Rs 64 crore on Day 10 and Rs 71 crore on Day 11.
Globally, the film has grossed Rs 1,023 crore in India and Rs 342 crore overseas. Earlier, the first part of the duology, released on December 5, 2025, also crossed Rs 1,000 crore within three weeks. The story follows an undercover Indian intelligence agent involved in a high stakes counter terrorism operation and later confronting larger threats.
