Hyderabad, April 2: Delhi Capitals registered their first win of the IPL 2026 season with a six wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants. The match turned into a thrilling contest as Delhi chased down the target despite an early collapse.

Batting first, Lucknow Super Giants struggled and were bowled out for 141 runs in 18.4 overs. The total looked modest. However, Delhi Capitals faced early trouble during the chase. The team lost key wickets quickly and slipped into deep pressure.

Star players KL Rahul and Axar Patel were dismissed for ducks. Meanwhile, Pathum Nissanka scored just 1 run and Nitish Rana managed only 15. As a result, Delhi Capitals were reduced to 26 for 4, putting them in serious trouble. At that stage, many expected Lucknow to win comfortably.

However, the game changed when Sameer Rizvi came in as an impact player. He handled the pressure calmly and played a responsible innings. Rizvi scored an unbeaten 70 runs off 47 balls, hitting five fours and four sixes. His innings shifted the momentum back to Delhi.

Meanwhile, Tristan Stubbs supported him well with an unbeaten 39. The duo built a strong partnership and ensured no further wickets fell. They attacked the Lucknow bowlers and chased down the target in just 17.1 overs.

For Lucknow, Prince Yadav picked up two wickets. However, the bowlers failed to break the Rizvi Stubbs partnership. This proved costly and led to their defeat.

With this result, Delhi Capitals opened their account in IPL 2026 with a strong comeback win. The match highlighted resilience under pressure and a decisive partnership that turned the game around.
