Hyderabad Police arrest accused in assault case at Murgi Chowk

Hyderabad Police | Hyderabad, April 6: Hyderabad City Police arrested a key accused for allegedly assaulting police personnel and obstructing GHMC officials during an anti encroachment drive at Murgi Chowk.

The incident occurred on April 4 around 10:15 am. GHMC teams, supported by Charminar Division police, were removing illegal encroachments from Lad Bazar to Puranapool.

Police said Sahil Akber, along with Ghouse, a former corporator, and Rahmath Baig, an MLC, allegedly formed a group and obstructed officials. The group reportedly behaved aggressively and tried to stop the drive.

According to police, Sahil Akber allegedly assaulted Police Constable Dheeraj Tiwari, who was on protection duty.

Sahil Akber reportedly grabbed and pushed the constable during the argument. Police also stated that abusive language was used against officials.

Hyderabad Police Arrest Accused in GHMC Assault Case

Based on the constable’s complaint, Hussainialam Police registered Crime No 102 of 2026. The case includes charges under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for obstructing public servants and causing hurt to deter duty.

Police arrested Sahil Akber on April 5 near Murgi Chowk following credible information. During questioning, he allegedly admitted his role in the incident.

He was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate court at Nampally. The court sent him to judicial remand, police said.

Hyderabad City Police warned that attacks on public servants will invite strict legal action. Officials said any attempt to obstruct government duties will be dealt with firmly as per law.
