Hyderabad: A major fire accident was reported at a textile showroom in Bandlaguda under Rajendranagar police limits late Monday night, causing extensive property damage even as no casualties were reported.
The incident took place at Siddhi Vinayaka Textiles, a two-storey commercial establishment, where the fire reportedly broke out suddenly and spread rapidly to both floors before staff and locals could respond.
Eyewitnesses said thick smoke engulfed the area, creating panic among nearby residents and shopkeepers. Locals immediately informed the Fire Department and police, who rushed to the spot with multiple fire tenders.
Firefighters carried out an intensive operation for nearly two hours to bring the flames under control and successfully prevented the fire from spreading to neighbouring commercial establishments.
Officials suspect that the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit, possibly triggered by excessive heat conditions. However, the exact cause will be confirmed only after a technical inspection.
Authorities said the total extent of property damage is still being assessed. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
