Huge number of BJP Mahila Morcha activists, led by state president Shilpa Reddy, marched towards the Chief Minister’s house. However, police had already deployed heavy security after receiving prior information about the protest.
Barricades were placed on all roads leading to the residence. Even then, protesters tried to move forward by pushing the barricades. As a result, heated arguments and scuffles broke out between police personnel and demonstrators.

Police later detained several women activists who sat on the road in protest. Officers shifted them into police vehicles and took them to nearby police stations. Shilpa Reddy was also taken into custody during the operation.
Meanwhile, BJP workers raised slogans against the Congress government. They accused the ruling party of betraying women by opposing women related legislation.
Speaking to the media before her detention, Shilpa Reddy said the government was trying to suppress democratic protests through police force. She added that BJP would continue its fight until women receive their rightful reservations and representation.
Traffic movement in Jubilee Hills and nearby areas was badly affected for several hours due to the protest and police action. Commuters faced delays as roads remained blocked during the demonstration.
Political tension between the BJP and Congress has been increasing in Telangana in recent weeks. Therefore, today’s protest is being seen as part of the growing battle between the two parties ahead of future elections.(Maxim News)
