Hyderabad, April 18: An Air India co pilot caught with marijuana in the US has triggered disciplinary action by the airline. The incident took place at San Francisco Airport during routine checks, officials said.

The co pilot had travelled from Delhi to San Francisco as on duty staff. He was scheduled to operate the return flight to India. However, authorities detected marijuana in his baggage during inspection.
Subsequently, US officials informed Air India about the violation. The airline then arranged for the co pilot to be sent back to India on another flight.
Airline initiates action after incident
Air India co pilot caught with marijuana in US has been reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation. The airline confirmed it has filed a formal complaint regarding the incident dated April 14.

Moreover, Air India stated that it follows a zero tolerance policy on such violations. It also clarified that strict disciplinary action will be taken as per company rules.
The incident came to light days after the checks were conducted at San Francisco Airport. Further investigation is expected to determine additional details.
