Hyderabad Airport Bomb Threat | Hyderabad, April 25: Panic gripped the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Saturday after authorities received a bomb threat email claiming explosives had been planted inside the terminal building.
Security agencies immediately launched an emergency response and intensified checks across the airport premises.
According to officials, an email was sent to the airport’s official mail ID by unidentified persons warning that a bomb was placed in the terminal and could explode at any moment.
Following the alert, airport authorities informed police and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) without delay.
Hyderabad Airport Bomb Threat Sparks Search
A meeting of the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) was held soon after the warning was received.
Officials then declared high alert across the airport and began large scale security checks.
Dog squads and bomb disposal teams carried out intensive searches in all sensitive areas.
Teams inspected waiting halls, parking zones, check in counters and baggage screening sections.
Passengers were briefly alarmed after noticing the sudden security movement.
However, airport staff and security personnel managed the situation and maintained order.
Officials said flight operations continued while safety protocols were strictly followed.
Police at Shamshabad Airport registered a case and started an investigation.
Cyber Crime officials are now tracing the source of the threatening email.
Investigators are examining the IP address, sender details and digital trail linked to the message.
Security officials suspect the threat may have been a fake mail sent to create panic.
They said strict legal action would be taken against those responsible for spreading false alarms.
Authorities also appealed to the public not to panic over rumours and to cooperate during security checks.
The incident once again highlighted the importance of rapid response systems at critical transport hubs.
