Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and elected to bat first. However, West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales struck early, dismissing opener Tanzid Hasan for seven.
Bangladesh then rebuilt their innings through Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque. The pair added 59 runs for the second wicket before West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican dismissed Mominul for 28.
Shadman remained unbeaten on 42 at the interval, while Shanto was batting on 15. Bangladesh had scored 96 runs in 29 overs, losing two wickets.

Seales and Warrican Strike as Bangladesh Rebuild
West Indies made an early breakthrough when Seales removed Tanzid in the seventh over. The dismissal gave the visitors an encouraging start after Bangladesh chose to bat.
Shadman and Mominul steadied the innings with a patient partnership. However, Warrican ended their stand by dismissing Mominul with his second delivery of the match.
Shadman and Shanto then ensured Bangladesh did not lose another wicket before lunch. The hosts will look to build a substantial first-innings total during the afternoon session.
Both teams selected three spinners and two specialist fast bowlers for the opening Test. The playing conditions are expected to offer increasing assistance to spin as the match progresses.
Bangladesh are aiming to strengthen their position in the ongoing World Test Championship cycle. Meanwhile, West Indies captain Roston Chase said his team was targeting a 2-0 series victory.
The two-match series provides both sides with an opportunity to improve their standing in the World Test Championship.
