Hyderabad, May 1: Telangana DGP CV Anand has ended the tradition of courtesy visits by district officers after assuming charge. He issued clear instructions directing all officers to remain at their respective postings.
Soon after taking charge, CV Anand stated that no officer needs to travel to Hyderabad to meet him. Instead, he asked all Superintendents of Police and Commissioners of Police to stay in their districts. He stressed that officers must focus on their assigned responsibilities.
Moreover, he instructed all SPs and CPs to be present in their offices on time. He said unnecessary travel should be avoided. Therefore, he emphasized efficient use of time and resources across the police department.
CV Anand administration sets new tone in policing
Furthermore, the DGP said he will meet officers personally at an appropriate time. Until then, he asked them to prioritise law and order duties. He highlighted the importance of maintaining public safety across all regions.
This move marks a shift from long followed practices in the police department. Usually, officers visit the state headquarters to greet a new DGP. However, CV Anand chose a different approach to reinforce discipline.
In addition, officials see this decision as a sign of administrative reform. It reflects a focus on field level governance rather than formalities. As a result, officers can dedicate more time to policing duties.
The directive also underlines the DGP’s emphasis on accountability. By asking officers to remain in their jurisdictions, he aims to strengthen ground level monitoring. Consequently, law enforcement may see improved efficiency.
Overall, CV Anand’s decision signals a results oriented approach. It sets a clear message that duty takes priority over protocol in Telangana Police operations.
