Hyderabad, May 1: The commercial LPG cylinder price hike has crossed Rs 3000, adding heavy burden on businesses across India. Oil companies increased the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by Rs 993 from today.
The sharp hike pushed prices beyond the Rs 3000 mark in major cities. In Hyderabad, the price reached Rs 3,069, while in New Delhi it stood at Rs 3,071.50.This marks one of the steepest increases in recent months.
The hike comes amid rising global fuel prices linked to tensions in West Asia. Supply concerns in key routes, especially the Strait of Hormuz, have disrupted LPG imports. As a result, international prices surged sharply, forcing domestic revisions.
Moreover, oil companies had already increased commercial LPG prices by Rs 115 last month. However, the latest hike stands out due to its scale. Therefore, businesses such as hotels and restaurants now face higher operational costs.

Meanwhile, small businesses and the hospitality sector may see increased expenses. Many operators depend on commercial LPG for daily operations.Hence, the sudden spike may impact pricing and profitability.
In contrast, domestic LPG users received partial relief. Oil companies did not change the price of 14.2 kg household cylinders this time.However, they had increased domestic cylinder prices by Rs 60 last month.
Experts say global geopolitical tensions continue to influence fuel markets. In particular, instability involving Iran and supply risks in West Asia have tightened availability. Consequently, LPG prices have risen sharply across markets.
Furthermore, analysts warn that continued disruptions may keep prices volatile. If supply chains remain strained, additional price revisions cannot be ruled out. Therefore, stakeholders remain cautious about future trends.
Overall, the commercial LPG cylinder price hike reflects global energy pressures. It also highlights the vulnerability of domestic markets to international supply shocks.
