Heatwave Intensifies In Telangana As Temperatures Cross 44°C

Hyderabad, May 3: Heatwave in Telangana has intensified as temperatures crossed 44°C in several districts over the past 24 hours, officials said. Data from India Meteorological Department confirmed a sharp rise above normal levels across the state.

According to IMD Hyderabad, northern districts recorded the highest temperatures. Nizamabad registered the peak at 44°C. Close behind, Adilabad recorded 43.8°C, which is about 2.5°C above normal.

Meanwhile, Medak reported 43.6°C, showing a 2°C increase from seasonal averages. In addition, Ramagundam and Khammam recorded 43°C and 42.8°C respectively. These figures reflect widespread heat stress across multiple regions.

Heatwave in Telangana triggers weather alerts

In Hyderabad, temperatures also remained high. Begumpet recorded 41.5°C, while Hakimpet touched 41.6°C, marking a sharp 3.6°C rise above normal. Similarly, Hayathnagar reported 41.4°C, indicating persistent heat conditions in urban areas.

Due to rising temperatures, IMD has issued a yellow warning for several districts. These include Nizamabad, Adilabad, and Hyderabad. The alert will remain in effect for the next 48 hours.

However, officials noted a slight possibility of relief. Isolated areas may receive thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph by late Sunday. Even so, high temperatures are expected to continue during the day.

Authorities have advised residents to take precautions. People should avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours. They also urged citizens to stay hydrated and limit exposure to direct sunlight.

The ongoing heatwave in Telangana highlights the impact of rising summer temperatures. Officials continue to monitor the situation and may issue further alerts if conditions worsen.
