The evening featured two activities. One group released illuminated lanterns into the sky, while another lit candles and walked around the stadium in a solemn procession.
The initiative honoured people who lost their lives to cancer and celebrated survivors. It also acknowledged the challenges faced by patients and their families.

Grace Cancer Foundation said the event aimed to remind people that no one facing cancer should feel alone. Each lantern represented a life, a memory, a prayer and a commitment to better cancer awareness.
The initiative also highlighted the importance of prevention, timely screening and early detection. It encouraged community participation in efforts to reduce the burden of cancer.
Speaking at the event, Mohanty appreciated the foundation’s efforts. He described the Global Grace Cancer Run as a meaningful initiative that brings people together for a social cause.
Mohanty said the foundation had received requests from several state governments to plan and implement cancer screening initiatives in their states. He said this reflected growing recognition of the need to take cancer awareness and screening programmes to communities.
Through ‘Hope of Light’, Grace Cancer Foundation reiterated its message of remembering lives lost, supporting people fighting cancer and expanding awareness.
