Riyadh Airport Attack | Hyderabad, Oct. 11: Mohammed Yusuf, a 46 year old man from Mehdipatnam, Hyderabad, died on October 11 after sustaining critical injuries in an attack at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The incident occurred a day earlier, according to his brother in law.
Yusuf worked as an IT professional in Riyadh. He had travelled from Hyderabad with his wife, two sons and daughter about a week earlier to perform Umrah.
According to reports, the family was waiting at the airport to travel to Madinah when the attack occurred. Yusuf reportedly suffered severe injuries after debris fell on him.
Preliminary reports said he sustained serious injuries to his legs. He reportedly regained consciousness briefly before suffering a heart attack. However, authorities have not officially confirmed the circumstances of his death or the reported cause.
His wife, daughter and younger son also sustained injuries. They are reportedly receiving treatment in the intensive care unit of a Riyadh hospital. His elder son suffered multiple injuries from flying glass shards and remains in critical condition.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi said on X on October 11 that he had received information about Yusuf’s death, subject to verification. He also reported that Yusuf’s wife and two children had been injured.
I have received news (subject to verification) that one Mr Mohammad Yousuf Ali died in the attack on the attack on the Riyadh Airport today. His wife and two kids have suffered injuries. I have spoken to Deputy Chief of Mission @IndianEmbRiyadh to look into the matter. @DrSJaishankar @VikramMisri request your immediate attention in this matter.

Owaisi said he had spoken to the Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and requested assistance. He also tagged External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, seeking their immediate attention.
Yusuf reportedly visited Hyderabad every two to three months while working remotely before returning to Riyadh. His elder son was pursuing Quran memorisation, while his younger son had recently appeared for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). His daughter is a school student.
According to Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), the attack killed 12 people and injured 309 others. The casualties included four Saudi citizens and eight foreign nationals from Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.
GACA announced on October 10 that operations at King Khalid International Airport had been temporarily suspended. Authorities took the step to assess damage and check the safety of airport facilities in coordination with relevant agencies.
The Saudi led coalition attributed the attack to Yemen’s Houthi movement and vowed a response. The incident raised concerns about civilian safety and aviation security in the region.
India and several other countries condemned the attacks. New Delhi called for an immediate halt to strikes targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure.
