Hyderabad, May 5: DEEP Trust launches Happy Wheels initiative to improve transportation access for children with special needs in the city. The non profit DEEP Trust announced the program on May 4, aiming to support inclusive education.
As part of the initiative, the Trust will donate an 18 seater TATA Winger to Sri Vidhyas Centre for Special Children. The vehicle handover will take place on May 6 at Mahindra Hills in Secunderabad.
DEEP Trust Launches Initiative To Boost Accessibility
The initiative addresses a key challenge faced by the institution. For years, the centre struggled with limited transport options for students. As a result, many children found it difficult to attend school and therapy sessions regularly.
Therefore, the new vehicle will ensure safe and reliable daily transport. It will help students travel between their homes and the centre without disruption. Moreover, it will allow participation in educational trips and social activities.
Officials said the initiative goes beyond a simple donation. It aims to improve dignity, independence, and access for children with special needs. In addition, it will reduce the burden on parents and caregivers.
The project received support from Hexagon AB and its CSR partner Octave. Their contribution enabled the purchase of the vehicle for the centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Rakesh Kalapala said every child deserves access to education. He stressed that transportation barriers should not prevent learning. Similarly, Madhu Vasepalli highlighted that removing such barriers unlocks potential.
Furthermore, Swati Mohanty stated that the initiative promotes an inclusive society. She added that it ensures children feel supported and valued.
The Trust also called for wider support from corporates and philanthropists. It urged stakeholders to invest in transport and accessibility for special children. Officials noted that many children across India still lack such basic facilities.
Meanwhile, the vehicle will be used only for transporting children with special needs. Authorities said this will ensure the initiative delivers lasting impact and supports consistent education.
