Narayenpet, June 24: A couple escaped after a hut caught fire due to an alleged short circuit in Mudmal village of Krishna mandal in Narayanpet district late Tuesday night, causing heavy property loss.
According to local information, the incident occurred around 11:40 pm at the residence of Boya Hanumanthu. The fire reportedly started due to an electrical short circuit and spread rapidly across the hut.

Hanumanthu was trapped inside the hut when the fire intensified. His wife attempted to rescue him and alerted nearby villagers.
Residents rushed to the spot and safely brought Hanumanthu out of the burning structure.
Hanumanthu sustained injuries to his hands during the incident and was shifted to Maktal Government Hospital in a 108 ambulance for treatment.
Property worth approximately Rs 4.70 lakh was reportedly destroyed in the fire. Burnt items included cash, gold and silver ornaments, urea bags, stored grain, household appliances, electrical equipment, motor service wires and materials used in the hut construction.
Several important documents were also destroyed, including farm passbooks, Aadhaar cards, ration cards and educational certificates.
The incident left the family in distress. Villagers appealed to the government to provide immediate financial assistance to the affected family.
