Hyderabad, May 5 (Maxim News): A massive fire broke out on Monday past midnight on the main road connecting Pragathi Nagar Kaman to Bachupally, triggering panic in the area.
The blaze engulfed several roadside furniture shops, reducing at least eight shops to ashes and damaging few others.
According to officials, several traders had set up temporary furniture outlets on open roadside plots and were earning their livelihood through these businesses. The fire spread rapidly through the shops, destroying furniture and other materials worth lakhs of rupees.
Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
This is the second major fire incident reported in the same area in recent times. Despite a previous fire mishap, it is learnt that landowners had asked shop operators to vacate the premises, but the shop owners allegedly did not agree.
On receiving information, the fire department personnel, along with the HYDRA and police officials reached the spot and took up firefighting operations to bring the flames under control. The raging fire came under control during Tuesday early hours.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an investigation is on. (Maxim News)
