Chandigarh/Hyderabad, May 9 (Maxim News): The ED today conducted searches at the residence of Punjab Industries and Power Minister Sanjeev Arora. After that, ED officials took Sanjeev Arora into custody. He was arrested at his residence in Sector 2, Chandigarh. Searches were also conducted at the offices of Hampton Sky Realty Limited in Delhi, Gurugram, Chandigarh. There are complaints against Sanjeev Arora’s company for making fake GST purchases. It is alleged that mobile phones worth about one hundred crores were purchased. Funds were illegally transferred from Dubai to India. Fake GST bills were created.
This is the third time this year that Minister Sanjeev Arora’s house has been raided. The investigation is underway in a money laundering case. The ED reached the minister’s house in Chandigarh at 5 am. During the operation, 8 vehicles belonging to ED officials were stopped in front of the minister’s residence. The ED had conducted a raid once in April. The investigation is ongoing in a case under the FEMA Act violation. He had earlier said that he would cooperate with the investigating agencies.
There are allegations that land allotted for industries is being used for residential projects. Sanjeev Arora was questioned on the issue of money laundering linked to that case. Although AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Man Singh are supporting Arora, the ED has done its job. (Maxim News)
