Hyderabad, May 9 (Maxim News) : K. Laxman criticised Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy over his recent remarks linking the Congress party with Muslims.
The BJP leader alleged that the Chief Minister was repeatedly making such statements to please the Congress leadership and certain sections of voters. He also claimed that ministers in the state cabinet were following the same political line.
Laxman accused the national Congress leadership of making statements that allegedly insult Hindus. He praised the Government of Gujarat for developing the Somnath Temple and organising religious events on a large scale.
Revanth remarks trigger political controversy
The controversy began after Revanth Reddy recently stated at a public meeting that “Congress means Muslims and Muslims mean Congress.” He also said that parties opposed to Muslims would not be allowed to grow in Telangana.
The Chief Minister alleged that Muslims were facing difficulties in several states because of the BJP. He further claimed that the BJP had entered Andhra Pradesh through its alliance with N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The remarks triggered sharp reactions from BJP leaders, who accused the Congress government of indulging in appeasement politics.
Political leaders from both parties continue to exchange criticism over the issue, adding to the growing political heat in Telangana. (Maxim News)
